The Homeownership Center (THC)
The Homeownership Center of North Texas (THC) is a community resource, which provides homeownership preparation through comprehensive counseling, training and education.
- Provides one-on-one home ownership counseling, foreclosure prevention seminars and homebuyer education classes.
- Has assisted more than 1,200 families and individuals with home buying counseling.
- Has assisted more than 100 families in becoming homeowners since its opening two years ago.
Katrina Homeownership Partnership/WOW: 10 Weeks to Homeownership
In May 2006, the NTHC began the first “10 Weeks to Homeownership” program. The classes are geared to first-time homebuyers to prepare for a “state of readiness” to purchase a home within or immediately after program completion. More than 150 people have graduated since beginning the program.
HOPE - Home Ownership Preservation Enterprise
NTHC is the lead agency for the Dallas Homeownership Preservation Enterprise Partnership (HOPE). HOPE aims to reduce the number of foreclosures in the North Texas region by providing free phone counseling through non-profit intermediaries affiliated with HOPE. The toll free number, 888-995-HOPE (4673) is open 24/7.
Nuestro Hogar
The Homeownership Center, in partnership with Fannie Mae developed a national pilot program designed to increase Hispanic homeowners in the region. The program consisted of a series of seminars at various locations throughout the entire metropolitan area and reached more than 1,200 families and individuals.
The Housing Summit
The Housing Summit is a daylong information sharing and business education forum that helps to develop big picture solutions to affordable, working class housing issues in North Texas.
- Guides and educates the public and private sectors on how housing affects issues such as healthcare, transportation, education and crime.
- Offers resources for affordable housing education, information and advocacy.
- The housing summit is open to the public.
